Martin Albert (Algott) Jacobson was born June 21, 1872 in Sweden.
In 1890 at the age of eighteen he made his way from Cumberland, Wisconsin to Butte, Montana to work in the mines but was lured further west in 1891 by stories of mining activities around Libby.
In 1901 he married Helma Hanson. Through experience gained working in the photograph studio of Gus Hufslund in Cumberland, Wisconsin before her marriage, Helma was an influence in interesting Martin in photography.
Martin opened his photography studio in Libby, Montana in 1904 and was one of Libby's true early day pioneers. With is wife, Helma they contributed a pictorial record of a by-gone era
Martin passed away on February 9th 1920. Helma lost her life in an automobile accident in Wenatchee, Washington on September 14th 1930 at the age of 48.
